I’m a wife, a mom of five, and for nearly a decade, youth soccer has been woven into nearly every part of our family’s life. We’ve lived the early mornings, the hotel weekends, the frequent roadtrips, the flights, the heartbreaking losses, the championship celebrations, the injuries, the club changes, and the moments that remind us why we fell in love with this game in the first place.
Somewhere along the way, I realized something…
Every weekend, thousands of parents gather on the sidelines, all trying to navigate one of the most confusing youth sports landscapes in America. Yet most of us are making huge decisions with very little objective information.
That’s why I started Soccer Mom Mafia.
Think of it as your Sideline Syndicate—a family of parents committed to helping one another navigate youth soccer with wisdom, confidence, and just enough humor to survive another tournament weekend.
Here’s the code we live by:
Parents are the only constant in a player’s story.
Coaches are a chapter.
Teamsare a chapter.
Clubs are a chapter.
Directors are a chapter.
Leagues are added and edited.
Rules will change.
But from the first pair of cleats to the final whistle of youth soccer, parents remain.
Because of that, I believe parents are ultimately responsible for their player’s journey. Not because we know more than coaches, but because we choose who we trust to help develop our children..
Every season, we decide where our players train, who influences them, and whether the environment is helping them become better athletes—and better people.
Soccer Mom Mafia exists to help families make those decisions with confidence instead of confusion.
You’ll find research, league breakdowns, budgeting tools, team manager resources, travel guidance, tournament information, and honest conversations about the realities of youth soccer.
You’ll also find something I believe our game needs more of:
Better communication.
Too often, parents, coaches, and club leadership are working toward the same goal while speaking different languages. My hope is to help close that communication gap by encouraging transparency, honest feedback, and mutual respect.
One belief you’ll hear me repeat often is this:
If a family entrusts a coach with helping develop their child, that coach should be able to explain the player’s strengths, identify areas for improvement, and provide a clear path forward. Development should never feel like a mystery.
You’ll rarely find me telling you which club is “the best.”
One club may be exactly what one player needs and completely wrong for another.
Both can be true.
Instead, my goal is to help you ask better questions, understand the landscape, and make informed decisions for your player.
Around here, we don’t traffic in rumors.
We build cases with facts.
We don’t start sideline drama.
We build stronger soccer families.
